I know a guy like him has some troubles too. He once told me, hes son got sick and cant afford medicine. I said, now that my parents are doctors, they would be glad to help you. Sunday night, I was watching TV at my parents room and we suddenly heard a doorbell. Ingrain, get It. My dad ordered. I stood up, walking down the stairs thinking, Its 10:30 in the evening, who could it be. I picked up the door and saw William by the gate. He looks alone and I wonder why hes here in the middle of the night. I open the gate and he wasnt alone, I saw him carrying his child. Whats wrong? I asked. Is your dad there? Definitely it was hesitation I felt. My day starts, thinking about Williams problem. Out of the blue, he Just asked a kid like me for money. I came home and look by the window and saw him wiping the car, and I made a decision. I came downstairs and gave him an envelope. Thank you very much; Ill pay you back little by little. He really looks happy but still troubled. Sure, but dont think about it that much, I can wait you know. I replied and he smiled. I was kind of happy that day. I dont know why but I was happy I did something good. At school, the teacher always teaches us about helping people and I never thought I would be doing that. I never told my parents about this nor did William. It was a secret between us. The reason I didnt tell my parents was there was no need for them to know, its what I thought. It was time for me to act on my own, I need to make decision. He needs the money more than I do, even though Im Just a kid, he needed my help. Its been nine years now, I grew and grew. William was there, watching me grow up. I still help him, even though its from own things, I still would find a good way to help him. I didnt regret the first time I helped him. Im Just happy I was helping someone and giving smiles to him and to his Emily. I still didnt tell my parents, I know what I did, what I decided was right. When Christmas comes, I would give away my old stuff, my old clothes to him. Besides, I will not use it anymore, and his children need it. Hes still a driver and I would still ask him questions, still learning new things from him and still be helping him. That one day I helped William taught me something, something William said, Its all about experience. I finally know the answer. There may be new challenges to come but things here always go back the way it should be.

A person that uses this style of conflict management may do so when they are afraid of standing up for their rights, or they may Just not want to deal with the hassle of a difficult and uncomfortable situation. One may also not want to hurt another feelings. There are advantages and disadvantages to the avoidance technique of conflict management. A disadvantage to using this technique is the conflict remains unresolved, therefore causing emotions to escalate. You may unintentionally signal to others that you are not interested in their needs. It may be an advantage to use this style of conflict management when a cooling off period is needed to think about the issues that are the source of the conflict. (Beebe Masters, 2009, p. 160-161) Accommodation is another conflict-management style in which one tries to handle the conflict by giving in to the wishes of others. This style is often referred to as a approach. People tend to use this approach when they lack confidence, have a high need for approval, and want others to like them. It may not always serve one well to accommodate during a conflict. A bad decision may be caused as the issues underlying the conflict were not thoroughly discussed. It may be appropriate to accommodate when you realize your position is wrong on an issue being discussed. Accommodating when appropriate can help a group develop a supportive climate as it shows you are reasonable. (Beebe Masters, 2009, p. CACM) Competition Is another conflict management style In which people strive to win a conflict at the expense of others. People who use this style are often seeking power and control over others. It is beneficial to use this style only if you are certain you have accurate information and that your insights and knowledge can help the group achieve its goal. Using the competitive style creates a disadvantage when it results in a defensive climate, creates blame towards others, and exerts control over others. (Beebe Masters, 2009, p. 161) Compromise Is another style of conflict management Tanat creates a solution Tanat wall somewhat meets ten needs AT all concerned. Using this method is not always a good idea. When groups quickly try to reach a compromise without discussing why they have conflict, the group may not reach the best solution or decision. Compromise may be beneficial when a decision is needed quickly. (Beebe Masters, 2009, p. 161-162) Collaboration is a method of inflict management in which group work together to produce a win-win outcome rather than competing for power. People who use collaboration view conflict as a problem to be solved rather than competing to prove who is right and who is wrong. Using this technique produces more satisfied group members as well as better solutions to conflict. A disadvantage of this method is the time, energy, patience, and skill it takes to collaborate. (Beebe Masters, 2009, p. 162) Different conflict situations require each of us to choose a style of conflict management appropriate for the type of conflict. The key to effective conflict prevention and management is to choose the conflict management style appropriate for the conflict (Green, n. D, Para. 1). Your conflict management behavioral style is simply a part of who you are. You develop a preferred style of conflict management based on past experiences, backgrounds, perceptions, gifts and abilities. (Mediation Works North, Inc. , 2008-2011) While most individuals have a preferred method of conflict management that they use in conflict situations, it may be necessary to choose a different style when appropriate. I personally use the collaborative approach to conflict management most often. I have never liked to avoid a conflict, which at times can lead to more contention. Often times a off?C,-1?0 period is needed to think about the issue at hand. I tend to want to talk about the conflict right away and resolve the issue. I do not work as well if I know a conflict exists. I care about what others are thinking and feeling in addition to my own thoughts and feelings. I want to take the time to develop a true consensus on a solution to the conflict that all individuals involved are in support of. I realize my preferred method of collaboration is not appropriate for all conflict situations. I often turn to the compromise style of conflict management when conflict exists with my children. I feel that using the compromise style has many advantages over other styles of conflict management to resolve conflicts I am having with my children. The competitive style of conflict management only makes my children more defensive and rebellious against my power. I want them to feel that we are a team, and we can work out conflict together. My biggest frustrations in dealing with others who use different styles of conflict management are those who continually use the avoidance style. I legalize that many people do not like to deal with conflict, so they would rather pretend it does not exist. Personally, I feel that in most situations, this causes the conflict to escalate. Relationships can be damaged by unresolved issues. I feel that overusing this style can lead us into giving up too many of our own personal goals and enables others to take advantage of us. It is important to learn to stand up for what one believes in rather than becoming a and trying to always please others. The only time I like to use this style of conflict management is when emotions are out of control and a cooling off period is necessary to regroup ND think about the issue. The conflict generally does not Just go away, and will have to be dealt with at some point. I also have a difficult time dealing with those who use ten competition style AT conflict management. I struggle to get along wit n tense won seek power over others and always want to be right. Conflict should not be a game that is to be won, but an opportunity to discuss different points of view and come to a consensus. In my experience, when the competition conflict management style is being used it creates an atmosphere of defensiveness, which I find uncomfortable.

Other proposals to solve the student loan crisis were highlighted by Sandra Block and Christine Dugas (2012), whose report entitled ââ¬Å"Five proposals to solve student loan crisisâ⬠, included options such as recommending a bankruptcy reform; implement student loan forgiveness; increase Pell grants; linking federal educational aids to affordability; and by educating the borrowers. Rational Emotional Behavior Therapy Case Study of Sarah: A Conceptualization and Treatment Plan Rational emotive behavior therapy, REBT, was developed by Albert Ellis and holds the central belief that the events in our lives do not cause our disturbances but that they are instead caused by our view of the events (Murdock, 2009). Project Management Process Groups and the Six Questions in Pmlc
Mapping the six (6) questions to basic Process Groups of the PMBOK methodology. According to Wysocki (2012, p. 25) ââ¬ËProject management is a set of tools, templates, and processes designed to answer the following six questions: What business situation is being addressed by this project? What do you need to do? What will you do? How will you do it? How will you know you did it? How well did you do it? ââ¬â¢ Wysocki (2012, p. 4) also added that; ââ¬ËIn addition to answering the six questions that a valid project management methodology must answer, whatever project management life cycle model you use must contain all of the following Process Groups; Scoping (PMI calls the Initiation), Planning, Launching (PMI calls the Execution), Monitoring & Controlling and Closing. The process groups will each be completed and in sequence, some or all of them may be repeated a number of timesââ¬â¢.PMI recognized the five process groups and nine knowledge areas to make up the Project man agement Body of Knowledge (PMBOK). PMI also identified the five process groups as building blocks of every project management life cycle. Scoping is identified by PMBOK as Initiation. Projects brainstorming, client need analysis, resource requirements, documentations and management approval are handled at this stage. This stage clearly answers questions like; ââ¬Å"what business situation is being addressed? â⬠and ââ¬Å"what needs to be done? â⬠.Key inputs at this stage can include contracts from the clients, deliverables from a companyââ¬â¢s annual business plan, policy, procedure and other social factors where the project will be cited. The outputs of scoping process group are Project Charter and Preliminary Project Scope Statement. Scoping is aimed at addressing the business situation at hand by indicating what needs to be done. For example, IT projects scoping in NLNG activities are handled by a multi-disciplinary team of subject-matter experts (SMEs) ââ¬â in cluding IT eams from Strategy and Planning. The whole team reports to IT projects review team of senior management positions to secure management approval on the project. Planning follows Project Charter and Preliminary Project Scope Statement produced by the scoping activity to establish project objectives and how to go about achieving such objectives within the project scope. Planning will answer the questions; ââ¬Å"what to do? â⬠and ââ¬Å"how to do it? by setting clear objectives for the project, allocating resources, identifying the best-fit model, setting milestone/targets throughout the project lifespan, etc. A Project Management Plan is drawn up at the end of the planning process. For example; in NLNG a three-year IT projects plan document is updated with latest approvals, milestones and closeouts to produce what is called ââ¬Å"IT Master plan for the yearâ⬠which various project managers use throughout the year in implementing IT projects.Launching/execution w orks with the Project Management Plan to deploy human and material resources to ensure all deliverables are achieved as planned. The question of; ââ¬Ëhow will you do it? â⬠gets answered here. Project management plan is the only input here and it must be strict to objectives, targets and specifications. The output at this stage a performance according to plan. In NLNG, IT project teams work across company locations in line with IT Master plan all through the year.Monitoring and Controlling process group ensures projects are run in line with targets by identifying KPIs for periodic monitoring ââ¬â based on clientââ¬â¢s requirements in the project plan. Changes to project scope, budget performance, maintenance/repairs to project equipment, etc, are all represented here in an attempt to answer the question; ââ¬Ëhow will you know you did itâ⬠? Project deliverables are only recognized at this stage. Key inputs to this process group are KPIs of the launching/executi on group while their output is the project delivery/milestone status.In NLNG, various teams are involved in monitoring and controlling projects. Ranging from the Cost Controller who monitors budget and reports cost (work-in-progress), through quality assurances and process auditors who ensure compliance with procedure, risk management and corporate governance. Closing process group collates all deliverables and closes all sub-process when a project is adjudged completed. Contracts and procurements, manpower engaged, work-in-progress close out and so many other project administrative supports are rounded up here.At this stage, the final product derived from the project is presented to the client according to specifications. The question of ââ¬Å"how well did you do? â⬠will be answered when client approves of the output, asset/output gets installed, audit tests post-implementation status and a final report submitted. In NLNG for example, IT projects are closed with a report and a ââ¬Å"go-liveâ⬠activity. In conclusion, the questions of what business situation to address and what needs to be done are critical success factors to any project.The Project Charter and Preliminary statements derive from such questions and are therefore essential to how a project plan is developed with achievable objectives, what resources are required to launch/execute the project, how to monitor and control parameters and when to identify project ending and close out. Wysocki (2012, p. 9) aptly captures this in his definition of project as; ââ¬Ëa sequence of finite dependent activities whose successful completion results in the delivery of the expected business value that validated doing the businessââ¬â¢.Therefore, until a business need is identified, there cannot be a project.
